The territorial boundaries of Consorzio di Bonifica Adige Bacchiglione, which results from the successive fusion of about twenty small consortiums, are roughly marked by natural barriers created by:
- the river Bacchiglione in the north;
- the confluence of the rivers Brenta and Gorzone in the east;
- the river Adige and a part of the river Gorzone in the south;
- the South-east crest of the Euganean Hills.

The hydraulic network of this drainage territory is divided into various basins most of which (that is, a total of 46,000 hectares out of 49,000) the water is discharged artificially by mechanical lifting.
About 20,000 hectares are under sea level.
The levels of altitude are reduced towards the east with a maximum peak of 601 m. at Mount Venda and average land heights at average sea level with values equal to (7.00) in the plains in the western limits of the drainage territory descending to (-3.50) in the territorial boundaries in the opposite direction towards Chioggia and Cavarzere.
The territory of the Consorzio is marked by the banks of the river Bacchiglione in the north and the rivers Adige and Gorzone in the south. These rivers are embanked and are at a higher level than the surrounding territory for several kilometres and are thus under constant threats of overflooding or breaking of their river banks.

The territory of the Consorzio covers a total surface of 49,037 hectares distributed between the Provinces of Padua and Venice and 31 interesting municipalities.
